Nov. 11

Thursday, May 25th, 2006

For those of you wondering when I will be home, the date has been changed to Nov. 11. For some this is too far away, but to others it isn’t far enough. Unfortunately, I can’t please everyone.

Hopefully, until that time you will enjoy my stories and photos.

The Lazy Life

So, you’re probably wondering when I’m going to write another interesting post. Sadly, you will have to keep waiting. I have spent the last week in Perth relaxing, going to the beach, wandering the city, looking for work, and visiting the beautiful suburb/town of Freemantle.

From Esperance the journey to Perth continued.

The first stop was Cape Le Grand National Park. The scenery was beautiful, the water crystal clear, and the swimming options endless.

Lucky Bay

With the inviting water in front of me, I ripped my shirt off, grabbed my towel, and headed to the sea. I ran in David Hasselhoff style though there was no great Baywatch music. The water was cold, but refreshing. I swam for about ten minutes then dried off. While sitting on the beach, I noticed that noone else was swimming. I figured that everyone else was scared of the cold water and continued on my way. About 1 hour later I stumbled upon a sign that explained why I was the only person in the water.

Maybe this is why I was the only one swimming

(If you can’t read this it says, ” Do not go swimming sharks have been sighted”)

It turns out that a 20 m whale died off shore 5 weeks earlier and was enjoyed by many sharks while being washed ashore. The sharks are no longer a problem though as there is no meat left in the whale and no blood attracting the sharks.

From the National Park the trip continued west to Albany, a beautiful town along the coast.

Albany

From Albany, I drove north through the forests of giant Karri trees. The forests provided an interesting experience as there are 3 lookout trees. The lookout trees are 60 – 70 m trees that are taller then the surrounding ones. They have steel bars inserted so you can climb to their tops where the parks service has installed tree houses to be used to watch for fires. Of course, I along with Yuki climbed the tallest tree (the top platform of the lookout is 7m above the ground).

The reward at the top was breath taking.

From, the forests we started our final drive to Perth. Along the way we stopped to stand in the sea with dolphins in Bunbury. It was truly amazing as the wild dolphins swam towards the onlookers and put on a little show.

Finally, I arrived in Perth, where I have enjoyed the beach, museum, and city centre.

Dear Fans (Pam, you may be the only one),

HA!

Senators

As usuaul, there was a lot of talk in Ottawa, but nothing was delivered.

Love,

NOTE 1: I know that my team didn’t make the playoffs, but we gave up months ago. Your team was considered a top contender. At least put up a fight and force a 6th game.

NOTE 2: An interesting post is coming soon.
